Founded in 1929, The Stagecrafters is a non-profit organization dedicated to making theatrical productions of the highest quality available to residents of Philadelphia and the surrounding communities at an affordable price. Loyal, committed, and talented volunteers provide the foundation for each yearly roster of six productions, which encompass a wide range: comedies, dramas, farces, mysteries, recent hits, hard-hitting contemporary fare, classics, revivals; and plays are chosen which are theatrically exciting, artistically challenging, and ideologically relevant. The current subscription base is nearly six hundred and, on average, over 1000 people come to see each production. Our auditorium seats 184, the theater is fully air-conditioned, and a full range of technical and backstage capabilities is in place to support our high production standards. In a recent newspaper feature article it was remarked that, '[The Stagecrafters] includes a mixture of professionals and former professionals whose performances rival Center City stages.'
