The riveting, well-known tale of vaudeville's decline and a domineering stage mother. It follows Mama Rose's dreams and efforts to raise her two daughters, June and Louise, to perform onstage, and her inadvertent creation of a burlesque stripper, Gypsy Rose Lee. Set in the 1920's and '30's, it casts an affectionate eye on the hardships of life and show business.
